1)      Download GRIDMONSTER?,  and then save to your Metatrader folder e.g.;

2)      Be sure to save a backup copy of GRIDMONSTER? in case you accidentally delete the file.

If you have received a zipped file; select “extract” and then extract the file to your experts file of Metatrader.

3)      Run Gridmonster for a few days on demo account only to start; this will allow you to get a feel for the various methods of using the product.

SETTINGS:

参数设置：

UniqueGridMagic – allows you to input a separate number to differentiate Gridmonster from other systems or orders that may be running.用于区分不同智能程序间的订单标识。

Lots – allows you set specific lot size of orders.指定每次下单的交易量

Gridsize – distance between orders – default is 6.格子尺寸-订单之间的价格距离，缺省设置是6点。

Gridsteps – numbers of orders placed – default is 10.格子步距-订单放置的间距，缺省是10点。

TakeProfit – take profit target for each order – default is 10 pips.预期收益=每个订单的预期收益，缺省是10点。

StopLoss – stop loss for each order – default is 0 pips.止损-每单的止损设置。缺省是0.

UpdateInterval – setting for how often to update orders ; default is 1 minute (*please note: when you make changes to the EA it will take 1 minute to process new orders due to the changes you have made)更新频率-订单更新的频率。缺省是1分钟更新一次

WantLongs – allows choice of just long positions允许多单-只允许多单入场

WantShorts – allows choice of just short positions允许空单-只允许空单入场。

WantBreakout - places long orders above price, shorts below price允许突破挂单-允许再价格上面关单做多，以及在价格下面挂单做空。

WantCounter - places long orders below price, shorts above price

允许反向挂单-再现价以下挂多单，以上挂空单。

MinFromPrice - minimum distance from price to place trades

订单之间最小距离。

LimitEMA – will place long order above ema (exponential moving average) only, shorts below ema only

EMA限制-只在EMA之上放置多单，之下放置空单。

EMAperiod – exponential moving average periods – default is 30

EMA参数

GridMaxopen - maximum number of open positions – default is 50

最大开仓个数，缺省是50

UseMACD - if true, will use place long orders when MACD > 0, and will place short orders when MACD < 0. When MACD crosses from + to -, all pending orders will be cancelled. Works in conjunction with wantLongs and wantShorts. Default is true.

使用MACD-如果设为真，则只有在MACD大于0时才进场多单，反之MACD小于0-时才入场空单。使用wantLongs and wantShorts的时候所有挂单都会取消。缺省是真

UseOsMA- Moving average of oscillators - if true, will use OSMA > 0 for longs only, OSMA <0 for shorts only. Used in same way as MACD. Default is false.

使用OsMA-同上，缺省是假

CloseOpenPositions - if UseMACD is being used, this will also close open positions with a loss; default is false.     

关闭持仓单-如果使用了UseMACD参数，则这里会将关闭持仓单。缺省是假

DoHousekeeping – used to remove long orders below the 30 period EMA if limitEMA is set to true

如果使用了参数limitEMA，则这里会将多单移到30日EMA下面。

KeepOpenTimeLimit - in hours - if > 0, all open orders or positions will be closed after this period, fractions are permitted.   

如果大于设定的时间，则持仓单和挂单都将被取消。

EMAfast,EMAslow,signalPeriod,timeframe – parameters for MACD and OsMA

MinFromPrice - minimum distance from price to place trades.

TradeForMinutes - if you want use EA for short time (during a news release for example) enter number of minutes; default is 0

GridOffset – default is zero – used if you want to have orders at fractional entry

LongGridCenter - defines the center point of a fixed width long grid ; default is 0

LongGridLow-defines the bottom of a fixed width long grid – default is 0

ProfitTarget – if set to a number, will close all positions once that dollar value is reached – default is $15,000.

These settings will reproduce profitable results but they carry a high level of risk; however there are many combinations that will produce profitable results on different currency pairs and with various time frames. The key is to have a system you are confident with; that has a reasonable expected drawdown – can you endure a 50% drawdown?; for most traders that is not acceptable. To repeat, the above settings carry a higher risk than I would recommend even though they may have quick profit results in the short run.

Some sample basic Gridmonster Strategies:

1) To make a break-out grid:

Set WantShorts to true; set WantLongs to true; Set WantBreakout to true; Set WantCounter to false.

2) To make a grid for a currency pair that is in an uptrend:

Set WantShorts to false; set WantLongs to true: set WantCounter to true

3) To make a grid for a currency pair that is in a downtrend:

Set WantShorts to true; set WantLongs to false; set WantCounter to true

When creating a grid it is vitally important to remember the following: A Grid system is really like a two-edged sword; it can produce large fast profits coupled with high risk; it can also produce quiet slow small profits with lower risk. If you create a system, get excited and run it on your live account without thoroughly understanding the calculated risk involved; you are asking for trouble; namely a devastating loss to your trading account.

THE NUMBER ONE RULE OF GRID SYSTEMS:格子原则1

A grid system must be large enough and the lot size small enough to cover the expected range of prices to be encountered.

格子系统需足够大，而订单手数要足够小，以抵抗可能出现的价格区间风险。


Let me explain the above; a grid system must be large enough; that means the orders need to be spaced far enough apart from one another. If you create a grid system with many orders packed tightly together and then you experience a large price move out of the range of the grid, the account will quickly suffer crippling loss, that should be self-evident. If you create a grid system with a very large space between orders, you make have a system that rarely trades, thus producing negligible profits; again this should be common sense.


The similar can be said for lot size; large lot size equals higher risk; you must calculate ahead of time the worst-case scenario of the grid you are implementing. So if you are using a grid with 10 buy and 10 sell orders and all ten sell orders get filled; you need to calculate the cost of carrying 10 sell orders x possible price move x margin requirement; compare this to the size of your trading account and the amount of drawdown (percent of account balance) you are willing to risk. THE NUMBER TWO RULE OF GRID SYSTEMS:格子原则2

The worst-case scenario is the most likely scenario.最糟糕的时候就是最合适的时候。

What this rule means is that when you are building a grid to cover a range of prices, you will naturally say to yourself; “well now this should be the maximum range the price of this currency pair will move; in fact I’ll even give myself a little extra room and allow the grid to cover this range”. Please be aware that the price action will reach this range and then some! This is an axiom that can only be learned through your own trading experience.

THE NUMBER THREE RULE OF GRID SYSTEMS:格子规则3

Slow and steady wins the race.稳健慢跑才能赢得比赛

What this rule means is that if you build your grid correctly; it will operate in a way that slowly grinds out profit for you on a consistent and regular basis. A grid system that can double your account balance every year or maybe even every ten months is entirely possible. A grid system that doubles your account balance every month is a disaster waiting to happen.

Now that being said, it is natural to ask, “What about Short-term breakout systems?” And the answer is, yes I love short-term breakout systems and have made buckets of pips using various breakout grids; however, this strategy is only for the more experienced, aggressive trader.

These three rules taken together I call THE GOLDEN RULES OF GRID SYSTEMS; the reason is that if you follow them; you can make all the gold you want! Trading by hand, greed, fear, picking tops and bottoms; and many other pursuits while trading currencies can lead to devastating losses. Grid-system trading is a goldmine for the savvy and educated individual currency trader; don’t miss the opportunity!

Additional notes:

Metatrader can sometimes drop its connection to your computer; especially if you are using a wireless router. Always make sure that the smiling face is next to the Expert Advisor indicator in the top right corner. If you see a sad face or an x check your network connection or re-load the EA.

Please note that when you make any changes to the inputs of Gridmonster, there will be a delay of 1 or 2 minutes before the changes will take effect. Similarly when the EA is first loaded, there is a lag of 1 or 2 minutes before the orders are processed to the active chart.

The risk of loss in trading foreign exchange can be substantial. You should therefore carefully consider whether such trading is suitable in light of your financial condition. You may sustain a total loss of funds and any additional funds that you deposit with your broker to maintain a position in the foreign exchange market. Past performance for a trading system is no guarantee of future results.
